"The only rigteous and humane thing to do is to recognize Ezzard Charles as heavy-weighty champion pending the forthcoming examination within SO days," said Saddy. Charles, who won the NBA version of Louis' vacated title last June, has been idle since last February when a New York Athletic Commission medical board reported he was suffering from a "bruised heart muscle." Charles was reported to have "a vascular condition of the heart." HOME FOR REST The examination had been ordered by the National Boxing Association. Charles refused to comment on the report. Before the examination he told reporters he was in "perfect shape" and ready to take on Freddie Be-shore June 7 in a twice-postponed title scrap in Buffalo.

But the Beshore fight is off and Charles has returned to his Chicago (IP) The specter of Joe Louis haunted the heavyweight boxing scene today with NBA champion Ezzard Charles K.O.'d for at least 90 days by an ailing heart. Louis, who is on an exhibition tour in Brazil, says Charles' possible retirement from the ring because of his health "is going to change my plans." The Brown Bomber's partner in the International Boxing Club, Jim Norris, says he believed Louis "would like to be the first heavyweight champion to win back the title." The time appears ripe for the 35-year-old but still potent Louis to make a comeback if he wants to. Taylor jabbed and flicked a sharp, stinging left onto LaMotta's nose and eyebrows with the skill and speed of an expert swordsman. He never seriously hurt the champion despite the fact that he opened superficial cuts around both the champion's eyes. The bull-shouldered Bronx battler bored in constantly, throwing leather unceasingly. In the third Joe opened a slight cut over LaMotta's right eye, but it was then that the Bronx belter started to catch up to Taylor with the lethal left.

LaMotta found Joe again and again with the club-like left and later in the dressing room Joe said that it was those blows to side and some on the hip that began to slow him. With his speed impaired Joe became a steadier target for the powerful swinging champion. In the fifth, LaMotta 'began to score with both rights and lefts and it seemed that sometimes just one more sound wallop would finish the fight. But Joe drew on a reserve that amazed and pleased his followers and weathered successive storms. FOR THE KILL.

The sixth was LaMotta's by a wide margin and the champion roared out of his corner in the seventh for the kill. About a minute after the round was under way Joe rallied and actually scored some of his best telling shots. In this round he straightened the champ up with a left, right, left combination that had the crowd on its feet. eighth showed that the pace was beginning to tell and in the ninth Taylor took his worst beating. Instinctive boxing ability is that saved him as LaMotta was unlimbering his heavy artillery and most of it was finding Joe's jaw.

Late in the last round LaMotta hooked him to the stomach with a club-like left that sent Joe sprawling to the mat. Joe dragged himself to his feet and continued the few seconds of the round that remained. SEEKS KAYO The entire Coliseum crowd stood through the final round as LaMotta strove for the knockout and Joe fought back as gamely as he could. In the dressing room after the fight Joe admitted that LaMotta hit him hard and that it hurt plenty.

Jenkins and Hannon also handle judicial duties in the open all-age stake and this is the class from which champions are chosen. Both men have handled championship contenders and have an eye for seeing it done the right way.

All-age dogs are expected to range widely and use uncanny judgment in hunting against the wind; looking for birdy places and finding and pointing game with impeccable style and manners. Deadly sin of the all-age' contender is to chase a flying bird or cause a bird to take flight without pointing it. Lesser evils incurring heavy demerits are moving while the bird is still in flight; dropping on point, or at flush; relaxing Intensity while on point. These are the aristocrats of the bird dog kingdom and while they generally range too widely for a hunter's satisfaction, their performance might be reckoned by comparing them to the shooting dog as a fine saddle horse would compare with a plow horse. Sunday's Binghamton field trial program will feature the hunter's favorite stake the open shooting dog event.

This class is nearer the type that the average hunter would like to own. They are expected to show all the finish on game that the all-age dog displays but do their work at closer range and respond kindly to their handler's orders. Judging this event will lie Howard Sweet of Marathon and Claude Crawford of Binghamton. Both men have handled prominent field trial winners. Sweet's best known dog was Eugene's Flash, once winner of the Eastern championship; Claude Crawford has owned a succession of winners such as Hazard Lewis Bill, one-time winner of the state championship, and Hal's Domi-' nant Coin.

Given good weather, viewing the field trial should provide a pleasant outing for the outdoor minded. Most of the bird work can be observed in the clubhouse bird field. There is no charge for admission. THEME SONG of the trout dolan are disagreeing with here is the panel of officials who will look the pooches over and try to come up with the right answers. Qualities they will look for in puppy contenders is an ardent desire to hunt coupled with energetic "rit-and-go" qualities which carry them out; the further they go and still get around to finish the better.
