of Owego died Tuesday, January 20, 1998. Predeceased by her husband, Reynolds W. Bennett. Mrs. Bennett is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Edward Nabinger, Marathon; son, Herbert R.

Bennett, Binghamton; three grandchildren, Theresa Baker, Tammy Kittle, Edward "Buddy" Nabinger. Catherine was a deacon of the First Presbyterian Union Church of Owego. A member of the Eastern Star Mount Morris Chapter 36 and a dedicated volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels for over 25 years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 1998 at 12 noon at the Estey Munroe Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego with the Rev. Vincent Early officiating.

Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira. Jean Dewees of Johnson City Jean Dewees passed away on January 17, 1998. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Theodore Pratt; granddaughter, Kelly Pratt. At her request there will be no services. Arrangements by Barber Memorial Home, Johnson City.

Suzanne Conant Young of Binghamton Suzanne Conant Young, 85, died Monday, January 19, 1998. She was bom in Amsterdam, N.Y. on October 20, 1912. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Claude R.

Young, former Assistant Director of the Binghamton State Hospital. She is survived by her son, Robert, Somers, N.Y.; two grandsons, Ian and Matthew; her daughter, Emily, Boston, a sister, Harriet C. Dearden, Ridgewood, N.J.; and a brother, Eugene F. Conant, Jensen Beach, Fla. Mrs.

Young graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1933 and attended the New York School of Social Work. She was a case worker for the Montgomery County Department of Public Welfare, and a psychiatric social worker at the Binghamton State Hospital and at the Family and Children's Service Society of Binghamton. Mrs. Young served on the Statewide Advisory Council to the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Social Services and on the boards of Broome County Planned Parenthood and Greer Children's Services of Millbrook, N.Y. She was Legislative and Education Chairman for the American Association of University Women, Public Affairs Chairman of the YWCA, President of the Fine Arts Society, President of the Auxilliary of Susquehanna Valley Home, and President of the Trinity Memorial Church Altar Guild.

Mrs. Young was a member of the Binghamton Garden Club, the Monday Afternoon Club, and the Broome County Orchid Society. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, 44 Main with Rev. Noreen P.

Suriner, officiating. The family will receive friends in the Hoyt Room of the church on Tuesday, January 20 from 2 to 4 p.m In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospice, 169 Riverside Binghamton, N.Y. 13905. Corbett S. Cotcamp of Lisle Corbett S. Cotcamp, 99, died at NYS Veterans Home in Oxford on Monday, January 19, 1998. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Goldie Cotcamp; sons, Corbett, Jr. and Larry; daughter, Mary; three sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his children, Sylvia and William Farin, Wise, Elnora McClure, 111., William and Freida Cotcamp, Whitey Point, Marion and Elberta Cotcamp, Lisle, Rosa and Louis Allen, Delia and Harold Seeley, Binghamton, Hugh and Sylvia Cotcamp, South Carolina, Barbara and William Moore, Amherst, Shelby and Douglas Ballard, Lisle, Patricia Kolar, Margaretville, Brenda Johnson, Endwell, Dawn and Ralph Ronk, 36 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; a brother, Quentin Franks will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Sedlock Funeral Home, 161 Clinton St. and 9:30 a.m. at St. John's Church where a Funeral Mass will be offered.

Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Emma A. Clinton of New Milford, Pa. Emma A. Clinton, 82, of New Milford, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 20, 1998 at Barnes- Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, Pa.

She was predeceased by her parents. Earl Clinton, Mabel and Richard Ainey and three brothers, Mitchell Clinton, Everett Clinton and Richard Ainey, Jr. Surviving are two nieces, Sally Clinton Carr, New Milford, Diane Ainey, Susquehanna, two nephews, ban Clinton, Huntingdon, John K. Ainey, New Miltord, eight grand nephews and nieces, Greg, Brandon, Josh, and Hillary Clinton, John, Joshua, Chad, and Melissa Ainey; a great grand niece, Ashley Clinton; a sister-in-law, Carol Ainey; and several cousins. Emma was a member of the United Methodist Church, New Milford, Pa.

and the New Milford Rebekah's. She was a former telephone operator in New Milford. Funeral services will be at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, Saturday. January 24, 1998 at 3 p.m. with the Kev.

William Townsend officiating. Interment will be in New Miltord Cemetery in the spring. The family will receive friends Friday trom 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday trom p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Edward John Cerwonka, Ph.D. formerly of Binghamton Dr. Edward John Cerwonka, a former Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Air Force who served during World War II, died Sunday, January 18, 1998 at Winchester Hospital in Woburn, Mass.

after a brief illness. He was 77 years of age. Dr. Cerwonka, who most recently resided at 16 Floyd Street in Woburn, was a retired chemist tor the Shilpey Company of Marlboro, Mass. and also worked for the Ansco Film Corporation of Binghamton, N.Y.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Councils in Binghamton as well as Boston. The son of the late Edward P. and Nell Cerwonka of 63 Gaylord Street in Binghamton, Dr. Cerwonka was born in Wilkes Barre, Pa. and graduated from both Scranton University and rordham University ot New York City.

He also attended M.I.T. in Cambridge, Mass. He is survived by six brothers and three sisters, Frederick, Palm Harbour, Paul, Virginia Beach, Va the Reverend Clarence, St. Mary of the Assumption and Michael, both of Binghamton, N.Y., Joseph and sister Mary Leibrandt, both of Ogunquit, Maine, Dr. Gerald Cerwonka, Woodland Hills, Martha Carney, Tenafly, N.J., Barbara Semo, Ithaca, N.Y.; as well as special friends Mary Adrienne Dockham, Woburn, and his faithful companion, Nipper, the Scottish Terrier.

His brothers Thomas and Eugene preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, 137 Robinson Binghamton. Calling hours are Wednesday, January 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Court Binghamton on Thursday, January 22 at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. In lieu of tlowers donations may be made to St.

Mary of the Assumption Refurbishment rund. Dana Lamont Empett of New Milford, Pa. Dana Lamont Empett, 80, of New Milford, passed away, Tuesday, Janu ary 13, 1998 in New Miltord township. Marjorie Jean Empett, his beloved wife of 50 years survives. Also surviving are his daughters and son, DeLaine Bailey, Nichols, N.Y., Oradell Banker and husband.

Ronald, Mehoo-pany, Darlene Ellis and husband, Grover, Apalachin, Charlene Rightmire and husband, Roy, Apalachin, Dana Jean Weaver, Coventry, N.Y., Harold L. Empett and wife, Kristi, Granite City, a son-in-law, Lynn Bailey, Nichols, N.Y.; a sister, Odessa Reynolds, New Milford, 1 1 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Gerald Weaver; a granddaughter; two brothers and a sister. Dana was a member of First Baptist Church, New Milford, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah's, New Milford, Pa. He was Constable of New Milford Township, a former New Milford Township Supervisor, a former Scoutmaster of New Milford Troop 90 and a member of the New Milford Cemetery Association.

In his younger years, Dana worked for Babcock, Hinds and Underwood, Binghamton for 22 years. He worked for the New Milford Borough and retired after 13 years of service. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church, New Milford, Saturday, January 24, 1998 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Goerlitz officiating. Interment will be in New Milford Cemetery in the spring.

The family will receive friends at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, Thursday, January 22, 1998 from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, January 23, 1998 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Saturday, January 24, 1998 from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Rinaldo "Len" DellaRocco of Melbourne, Fla. Len DellaRocco, 72, of Mel bourne, Fla. passed away January 15, 1998. Survived by his wife, Josephine (Santucci) DellaRocco, Melbourne; two sons, Gary DellaRocco, Wakefield, Len DellaRocco, Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren; three broth ers, Joseph DellaRocco and Thomas DellaRocco, Binghamton, Alfred DellaRocco, Merritt Island, six sisters, Marie Ludka, Leonilda O'Brien, Christine Capalaces, all of Binghamton, Matilda Ciotoli, bndicott, Iheresa Perez, Rockledge, Donna Shiptenko, Louisville, Ky. He was a member of The Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne, the BPOE (Elks) Melbourne and a 4th Degree Knight.

He was very active in the USS Mobile Naval Reunions. Funeral services will be held Thurs day 2 p.m. at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, 1905 Watson Endicott with the Rev. Darr Schoenhofen Associate Pastor of Our Lady of Good Council Church officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Patrick "Joe" Yeager of Binghamton Patrick "Joe" Yeager, 73, of Bing hamton died Tuesday afternoon, January 20, 1998 at his home, after an extended illness. He was predeceased by his wife. Virginia Lee Yeager on October 22, 1997; his sister, Ruth Yeager; brothers, William and James Yeager. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Yeager, Binghamton; four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Yeager, Binghamton, James and Patty Yeager, York, William and Linda Yeager, Endwell, Richard and Cindy Yeager, Santa Cruz, six grandchildren, Jessica, Billy, Valerie, Steven, Megan, Nicole; one great grandchild, Luis; two sisters, Catherine Eggleston and Alice Yeager, Binghamton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rae and Frank McCarthy, Ruth and Doug Hartford, Helen Yeager; several nieces and nephews He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Binghamton and its Holy Name Society, retired from Binghamton Savings Bank and served for many years at Hamlins Drug Store in Binghamton.

(OHie) Riley, Sr. of Binghamton Oliver W. (Ollie) Riley, 78, of Binghamton died Monday, January 19, 1998 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a brier illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine McNer- ney Riley; his parents, Charles and Maria Riley; his sister, Emmaline Riley; and sister-in-law, Patricia Riley He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and John F. X.

Keane, New Providence, N.J.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Oliver W. and Deborah Riley, Endwell, Peter C. Riley and Beth Marvin, Essex Junction, seven grandchildren, Thomas, Emily and Elizabeth Keane, Carolyn and Kathleen Riley, Leah and Erin Marvin-Riley; brothers and sisters, Frances Riley, Charles Riley, Esther Healy, Joseph and Norma Kiley, Robert Riley, Edward and Margaret Riley; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, William and Frances Kane, and Jane McNerney; also many loving nieces and nephews. Bernhauer of Binghamton After a long illness, Lois Bernhauer (Mom Grandmother) passed over on January 19, 1998 to be with the Lord and loved ones gone before her. She was surrounded by the love of her family in the peacetulness ot her home. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Herbert F. Bernhauer, Richard J. and Debra L.

Bernhauer, all of Binghamton; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara F. and Nick Sakelariou, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Jane Lawrence; two sisters, Leona and Florence; three grandchil dren, Krystal, Ricky, and Kosta; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her special furry friends, Mickey, Angie, Misty Rose, Rocky, and Jessie. A funeral service will be held 9 a.m. Thursday at Peter P. Savage Funeral Home, 3.58 Conklin Ave, Binghamton followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by St.

Andrew's Church, at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Gerald J. Buckley officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in the family plot.

Bernhauer. Edward J. Ives of Binghamton Edward J. Ives, 95, of Binghamton, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 15, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Helen J.

Ives, Binghamton; one sister, Betty Emerson, several nieces and nephews. He owned and operated Eddie's Motors, in Johnson City for 22 years. He was a member of the Elk's Club for over 50 years. He was a major supporter of the YMCA and many other community organizations. He was a member and supporter of Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, Johnson City since 1924.

Funeral and committal services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, 150 Main Johnson City, Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Mark Marino, pastor of his church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the services. Virginia (Purdy) Roath formerly of Johnson City Virginia (Purdy) Roath, 70, of Lady Lake, died Sunday, January 11, 1998 after a lengthy illness. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Marie E. and Grover J.

Purdy, and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, Stephen J. Roath, Lady Lake, three sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen J. and Penny Roath. Thomasville, Richard S.

and Dale Roath, Ocala, W. Patrick and Vonda Roath, Brandon, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen M. Roath-Algera and John Algera, Titus-ville, Mary E. and David Strickland, Ashville, N.C.; one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Robert Garey, Johnson City; one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Jean Purdy, Lisle; two sisters-in-law, Marge Purdy, Vestal, Marion Purdy, Sun City, a brother-in-law, Albert Korbar, Endicott; 16 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of St.

Timothy's Catholic Church, Lady Lake, Fla. She was a very active member of Cursillo and her church as an extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. She started a program at St. Timothy's to serve the sick and shut-ins. A Funeral Mass was offered at St.

Timothy's Church. Burial was in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. S. Marie Bean of Ontelaunee Township, Pa. S.

Marie Bean, 91, died Sunday at 5:25 p.m. in her Ontelaunee Township residence. Her husband, the Rev. Ernest W. Bean, died January 31, 1987.

Born in Harleysville, Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob M. and Flora A. (Alderfer) Moyer. She was a member of Bible Fellowship Church, Zionsville, Lehigh County. Surviving are three daughters, Joyce wife of William E.

Brosious, Vestal, Carol wife of Robert B. Ringler, Ontelaunee Township, with whom she resided, and Bonnie, wife of John E. Killian, Reading. Other survivors include a sister, L. Mae, widow of Marvin Swartley, Marlton, N.J.; and a brother, Jacob W.

Moyer, Norristown. There are also seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 1 1 a.m. in Calvary Baptist Church, Reading. Burial will be in Old Zionsville Fellowship Church Cemetery, Lehigh County.

Reading is in charge of arrangements. Fla. passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 1998 following a long illness. Mrs. Gardner was born on March 18, 1915 in Dalton, a daughter of Peter and Mary C.

(Henn) Finkler. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Gardner in 1987. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and James Button, Endicott; and son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Janice Gard ner, inter Haven, a sister, Clara Ziegler, Hoboken, N.J.; seven grand-childien; 12 great grandchildren: several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday from the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Newark Valley.

Mary (Piepoli) Palniasani of Endicott Mary (Piepoli) Palmasani, 75, of Endicott passed away Monday morning, January 19, 1998 at the Wilson Memorial Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Filomena and Joseph Piepoli. She is survived by her husband, Michael Palmasani, Endicott; three sons, Michael, Joseph, and Frank Palmasani; two daughters and one son-in-law, Grace Arnold, Phyllis and David Lupo, all of Endicott; three grandchildren, Joseph, Jason, and Kelly; one sister, Mrs. Anne Searles, Endicott; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Santa Palmasani, Esther Pricci, Josephine and Joseph Cascio, all of Scranton, Jimmie and Thomas Palmasani, Alabama, Dorothy Palmasani, Chicago, 111., Lena Bartocci, Florida; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a member of St.

Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott. A member of the Woman's Auxiliary of the William Gasper, Jr. Chapter 60 DAV, a member of American Legion Post 1194, Hillcrest, a member of the Alberobellese Federation and the St. Ann's Society. Funeral services will be held Friday, 9 a.m.

Mario L. Frate of Endicott Mario L. Frate, 62, of Endicott died unexpectedly Sunday morning January 18, 1998 at his residence. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Anna Frate; and a brother, John Frate. He is survived by his wife, Karen L.

Harold was born January 14, 1929 in Newark, N.Y. to the late Delmer E. and Iva Mae (Morrisy) Padgett. Predeceased by his parents; infant daughter, Velma Marie Padgett; three brothers. Gilbert, William, and Howard.

Harold is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Padgett, at home; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Nancy Padgett, Owego; daughter, Nikki Wade, Owego; grandchildren, Jason and Velma Wade, Brian and Sarah Padgett; several step grandchildren: two step-great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Delmer and Frances Padgett, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and George VanWinkle, Iva and Frank Austin, all of Jacksonville, his Uncle Lason (Velma) Padgett, California; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Harold lived in Owego all his life. He retired from Conrail Corp. after 4U years or service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his daily walk with his friends in Hickory Park, and his Burger King breakfast group.

He was an avid NASCAR Race fan. Harold will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 1998 at 4 p.m. at the bstey Munroe huneral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego. Burial will be in the spring in the Evergreen Cemetery, Owego.

He was born on June 4, 1925 in Germany, the son of the late Fredrick and Marie Mattern Geist. He is survived by his wife, Hedwig Bentz Geist, whom he married in 1951; two daughters, Betty (Bill) DeVito, Lisle, and Carol (Don) Novak, Texas; four grandchildren, Meghan and Brendon DeVito, Katie and Mathew Novak; one brother, Hermann Geist, New Jersey; niece, Linda Stitt, Maryland; cousin, George Ouesteo, Virginia.

Services will be on Saturday, January 24th at 10:30 a.m. at the Cobblestone Hill Presbyterian Church, Lisle, with the Rev. Sprite, and Steve Johnson officiating. There will be no calling hours. She was predeceased by her husband, George Lason; a son, James Lason; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Irving Woodford; a brother, Robert VanVorce; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Bernice VanVorce, Arthur and Jean VanVorce, Sarah VanVorce; and a great granddaughter, Paula Runkle. She is survived by her grandchildren, Irving and Eileen Woodford, Victoria Gilette, Esther Main, Linda and William Brumbaugh, Joyce Runkle, Sheri and James Cain, Cynthia and Jake Lingenfelter, James and Robin Lason and Phylis Lason; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Lason; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert VanVorce, Lowell and Louise VanVorce, Frederick and Dorothy VanVorce, Leon and Marion VanVorce, and Lorena VanVorce; 22 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and also several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Hawleyton United Methodist Church.
