Leonard, 87, of Binghamton, N.Y., went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at River Mede Manor, Binghamton.

She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Leonard on April 21, 1991 and her grandson, Lennie Fike. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard E. and Jean Leonard, Apalachin; a daughter, Erma Overfield, Binghamton; two brothers, Floyd Roe, Hallstead, Pa. and Wilson Roe. Hallstead, three sisters, Bertha Roys, Texas, Alice Hallstead, four grandchildren, Hallstead, Pa.

and Dorothy, Luce, Kathleen Fike, Robin Tinna, Randy Fike and Ralph Leonard; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Martha was a member of the Stanfordville Baptist Church. Petzold of Newark Valley Robert S. (Bob) Petzold, 75, of Newark Valley, passed away at Englewood Community Hospital, Englewood. Monday, February 22, 1999. He was born at home in Newark Valley, July 10, 1923, the son of Harvey and Mary (Blewer) Petzold. He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes Myott and his son, Robert Petzold, Jr.

Bob is survived by his wife of 16 years, Pauline (Polly) in Florida; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam Moyer, Owego; a son and Petzold, daughter Gary and Stella a step daughter, Rozanne Burdick, Binghamton; three step sons, James Burdick, England, David Burdick, West Rick Burdick. two sisters, Evelyn and Francis Carozza, Fla. and Katherine (Kay) Victor, a brother, Frederick Petzold, Newark Valley; five grandchildren, Gary, William and Joseph Petzold, Jason Beeman and Alex Moyer; four step grandchildren, Jason Burdick, Ashley and Bradley Burdick and James Burdick, eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was a lifelong dairy farmer in Newark Valley and was owner of Petzold Real Estate. He was a member of several community organizations including Owego Rotary, Elks BPOE 1039, Loyal Order of Moose 1595 and American Legion Post 401.

He was also President of the Tioga County Farm Bureau from 1959-1961 and NYS Farm Bureau Director from 1962-1964. Bob had a love for outdoors and his true passion of gardening. He created breathtaking gardens of beautiful plants and trees in both New York and Florida. Bob was a beloved husband, father and friend and will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Rte.

17c West, Owego, on Sunday, February 28, 1999 at 1 p.m. with Rev. David A. Rockwell, pastor of the Owego United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Weltonville Cemetery.

Anna Spak of Binghamton Anna Spak, 106 years, fell asleep in the Lord Tuesday morning, February 23, 1999 at the Willow Point Nursing Home. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Spak and a grandson, Gary Spak.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, George and Aurora Spak, Binghamton, John Spak, Endwell and Mary Spak, Vestal; three grandchildren, Daryl and his wife, Denise Spak, Margo-Ann Spak and Sergius and his wife, Deborah Spak; five great grandchildren, Daryl Jordan, Jason, Laura and Donna Spak and Mrs. Terry (Kyra) Gordon; a greatgranddaughter, Brianna Spak; brother, John Donchig; and nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Michael's Greek Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday 9 a.m.

Ostrander, 79, of Vestal, N.Y. went to be with our Lord Wednesday morning February 24, 1999 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a long illness. He is survived by his his wife, Emily Ostrander, Vestal; former wife, Lillian Ostrander, Owego; one daughter, Kathryn Ann Ostrander, Owego; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles David and Beth Ostrander, Owego, Gary Eugene and Marcia Ostrander, Whitney Point, N.Y.; two step-children, Rita and Chris Doolittle, Vestal, James Harvey, New Hampshire; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law. Mary Kathryn and Albert Veronesi, New Berlin; one nephew, Richard Veronesi, Phoenix, N.Y. He was a member of the Owego United Methodist Church.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Unadilla for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Owego VFW. He was a member of the Binghamton Moose Lodge.

A member of the Boy Scout Troop Endicott. He was a retired employee of IBM Corporation, Endicott with 31 years of service. At Charles' request there will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, N.Y., Friday. The Rev.

(Bud) Gordner of Owego Gurden E. (Bud) Gordner, 71 of Owego passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 23, 1999. He was predeceased by his mother, Nellie M. Gordner. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Gordner; four daughters and sons-in-law, Carlene and John Saxon, Athens, Pam and Per Sjolinder, Charlottesville, Cindy and John Bevan, Palmyra, Diane Cole, Owego; one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Jolene Gordner, Candor: 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his constant companion, Molly.

Bud was a retired employee of IBM Owego with 33 years of service and a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a life member of Hiawatha Engine Co. of the Owego Fire Dept. with 28 years of service. He served the Fire Dept.

as a firefighter and in the later years he was a fire photographer, video photographer and Deputy Fire-Coordinator for Tioga County. He was instrumental in the enhancement, formulation and implementation of the Tioga County Fire Investigation Team and the equipment utilized and served as the Coordinator. He also was the of the Town of Owego Fire District for ten years. Bud also worked as a private fire investigator for Peter Vallas Associates for many years. He was a veteran of WWII where he served as a Military Police Officer.

He enlisted in the Army after graduating in 1945 from Owego Free Academy. He was a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, American Society of Agricultural Engineers and was an Eagle Scout, Troop 38. Bud was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed nature. He was always there for his family to lend a helping hand or to give advice when it was needed. He is now "The Man of Open Spaces" exactly where he wanted to be.

Olmstead of South Montrose, Pa. Helen O. Olmstead, 86, of South Montrose, died Friday, February 19, 1999 at Endless Mountains Health Systems. Born in Montrose, Pa. on July 10, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ida (Babcock) O'Brien.

She was predeceased by her husband, George A. Olmstead. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Montrose and was previously employed as a bookkeeper by Bendix South Montrose. She is survived by two sons, Jack Olmstead, Scottsdale, Ariz. and Richard Olmstead, Wilmington, three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Marion Patrick and Lillian Sheen, both of Montrose.

of Binghamton Raymond Fry "Jeff" Jefferson, 85, of Binghamton, passed away Tuesday evening, February 23, 1999 at his home. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Nora Jefferson. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gertrude Jefferson, Binghamton; two daughters, Margaret Daniels, Charlotte, N.C., Nora Jefferson, Binghamton and companion, Stanley Cosper; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Devola Jefferson, Charlotte, S.C.; six grandchildren, Joan and Johnny Jefferson Lee, Jerame and Jonah Hawkins, Sean, Tomaris, Titus Jefferson; a great grandson, Maurice Jefferson; nephew, Robert Archie, Binghamton; niece, Christina Archie Brown, Binghamton; many dear friends. Mrs. White was born in North Pitcher, N.Y. on June 8, 1906, the daughter of the late Mortimer Pope and Nina Murray Parker. A graduate of South Otselic High School, Mrs. White also attended the Cortland Normal Teachers College.

Mrs. White and her husband, the late, J. Marlin White moved to Marathon in 1930 where they raised their family. It was there they owned and operated White's Market, while raising purebred Milking Shorthorn cattle, active in the family business, Mrs. White was a devoted mother who was also active in the community.

She was a member of Marathon Chapter 101 Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Matron and Secretary. Past President of the Presbyterian Women, Mrs. White also taught Sunday school for many years. She acted for many years as a news correspondent for the Syracuse Herald, the Cortland Standard and the Marathon Independent. Serving as Marathon Town Historian, Mrs.

White enjoyed genealogy. Other interests included, reading and writing. She was often called upon to entertain groups with her materials. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing and bird watching. Mrs.

White is survived by two sons and five daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Harry) Liddington, Marathon, Marlin R. "Rudy" (Joan) White, Greene, Martha (Mrs. Sam) Au Hoon, Harvey, Harold M. (Lolita) White, Marathon, Connie (Chuck Adams) White, Marathon, Margery (Geoff Horvath) Kanahele, Hawail, Marcelene Susanne "Suzy" (Bob) Lille, Marathon; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren; three nephews.

Mrs. White was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, J. Marlin White in 1981, a daughter, Jean White in 1935 and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Botting. Services to celebrate the life of Mrs.

White will be held Saturday, February 27, 1999 at 1. p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Marathon. There are no calling hours. The family will receive friends and neighbors in the church parlors following the service.

White of Marathon Susannah "Susanne" A. White, 92, of Richard J. Powell of Johnson City Richard J. Powell, 78, of Johnson City died Tuesday, February 23, 1999 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Clyde and Lucy Powell.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen; by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Paul Guido, Binghamton, Martha and Brad Bennett, Endwell; by two sons and a daughter-in-law. Larry and Nancy Powell, Reading, Edward Powell, Johnson City; by granddaughters, Deana, Theresa, and Maria Guido, Binghamton; by a sister and brother-inlaw, Joan and Lawrence Smiley, Johnson City; by a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Glyndora Powell, Youngstown, NY; and by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Powell served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II and was employed with IBM Endicott for 38 years.

He was a long-time supporter of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church and a member of Johnson City Masonic Lodge which honored him with awards for Distinquished Service and Mason of the Year in 1994. He belonged to the Scottish Rite, Kalurah Temple Shrine, the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Local Ring and the Southern Tier Bicycle Club. Laura Stiles of Owego Laura (Mantei) Stiles, 88, of Owego, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 1999. Predeceased by her husband. William Stiles; four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Pauline "Peggy" Sherwood, Owego; grandson and his wife, Cliff "C.J." and Lisa Sherwood, Owego; very special nieces, nephews and cousins; wonderful neighbors, Thelma Murray, David and Joyce Miner. Mrs. Stiles was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She retired from Endicott Johnson Shoe Company in Owego after 40 years of service. Laura was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend to all and will be greatly missed.
