L. Pavis Fire Station in Endwell. Association officers said they made some progress toward creation of the bureau to integrate fire coverage in the large area, but they made no secret of the fact that they are encountering some obstacles through disinclination of some of the county's municipal fire departments to participate. Endicott, for example, has indicated a lukewarm attitude toward the centralization proposal although village officials here said they would go along if a majority of the companies of the county were to approve the plan. Endicott officials said the cost of the setup might be proportionately greater thanits value.

Bureau Planned Specifically, the county association's proposal is to set up a Cadet caravan, scheduled to be brought here Monday to acquaint local youths and their parents with the equipment and work of the Army Air Forces, will be stationed in three points in Broome County. Consisting of a Republic P-47 "Thunderbolt" airplane, two airplane engines, a "Walkie-Talkie" radio, a puncture-proof gasoline tank, an amphibian jeep, a "blockbuster" bomb and a Link trainer, the caravan will be at Union-Endicott High School from 9 to 10:45 a. at Johnson City High School from 11 a. m. to 1 p.

and at Recreation Park in Binghamton beginning at 3 p. according to Capt. James M. Moore, Army Air Corps recruiter at the Binghamton Army Recruiting Station. An ollicer and 15 enlisted men are in charge of the 12-truck caravan and will invite young men interested in the army's aviation cadet program to test their physical reactions to actual flying conditions through use of training equipment with the caravan.

Prospective aviation cadet recruits also will be invited to carry out a simulated bombing raid by use of the Sperry bombsight. The caravan originally was scheduled to be stationed in Court Street all day Monday but because of its size, it was decided to station it at the schools and at Recreation Park. 11 a. m. ST.

Chrlsenberry bureau, probably in Binghamton, where all fire alarms would be received and from which departments would be assigned to assist other departments in the event of serious conflagrations. Recommended by the State Office of Civilian Protection and by other groups interested in fire protection, the bureau would work this way in actual practice: A fire develops in Westover and Johnson City's Fire Department covers it in line with the village's municipal agreement with the Town of Union. The fire gains headway and Johnson City's department can not cope with it. So Johnson City's fire officials tontact the central bureau, and the bureau estimates the manpower and equipment necessary to cope with the blaze and designates the auxiliary help necessary to combat it.
